Alrighty y'all, this week's episode of Hick Nation was a dooooozie….Just how I like em. Let's get into it!
☆ Transfers are next week!!
☆ Why are you running?
Y'all we bout near lost our lives yesterday. Sister Nielsen and I got chased by this huge pitbull. Let's just say I aint ever seen Sister Nielsen or myself run that fast before. #shesarunnershesatrackstarrrr 🏃♀️💨
O
☆ Woop Woop das the sound of da police🚔👮♀️🚨:
We saw a man getting arrested out of his own home…there were 4 cops walkin out with him and his wife was PRESSED at the dude getting arrested, she was pointing her finger in his face and yelling😂 he finna be beefin with his chick in jail frfr…..iykyk. Also, we went to visit a dude who got taught in the past and couldn't get in contact with him, come to find out he is in prison….don't know what for but I don’t really wanna know. Safe to say we won't be teaching him anytime soon. Good times.
☆ The Matswogathas 🥳🥳
We got to meet President and Sister Matswogatha and their daughter, Queen B! They're from Botswana, Africa. This family has dedicated their life to serving the lord and you can tell, it shows in their countenance.
I am so beyond excited for what they have in store for the ABM. They are just outstanding Disciples of Christ. President had shared facts about them and then talked with us about being the best version of ourselves, because through living the missionary purpose it becomes our LIFE purpose. A mission is meant to be a setting of foundation for the rest of your life, it strengthens you, builds you to become who God has intended you to be and to help others reach that as well!! I needed to hear every word that was taught by him that day.
☆ A Weed tree?? 🚬🌿🌴
OH MY HEAVENLY DAYS…okie doke. So we were teaching this guy. Ya we had a fire lesson with him. Here's some backstory, we have been teaching him on and off for 3 months…don't ask me, ask the lord. We've stopped teaching him a couple times but God keeps bringing us back to him for some reason. We had no idea what this little thing we needed to teach him was, but then it clicked! We taught him about the word of wisdom. This was a POWERFUL meeting. We had talked with him about it all and read D&C 89, more towards the end are the promised blessings and it mentions “wisdom and great treasures of knowledge” he stopped us and said that he had been praying for that for so long and he was lowkey almost bouta cry! WHAT! Wild. Anywho, the spirit was most definitely there and we asked him if he felt it. This was the very first time he admitted to truly feeling the spirit. We then talked about baptism and he said he wanted to get baptized to receive those blessings. God is so good. He said he is going to work on stopping smoking and drinking tea and coffee!! Yay! We gonna get this man dipped in the holy waters, I know it.
He also asked if it was allowed to “grow a tree”, whatever that means 🤷♀️(i just assumed he was talkin about weed) but we asked if that was even legal, or if it would be a temptation. Obviously it would be, he started telling us how he would walk past the tree just to get the smell of the leaves brushed on him and that if he could, he would hug that thing all day. “Man thats the good stuff”. He hasn't smoked weed in years, but here's a friendly reminder, don't do drugs kids. You might end up hugging a weed tree.
☆ Dang YSA:
We found the cutest elect girl ever!!!
We knocked and she opened the door. We invited her to church and she excitedly said “Yes, I'd love to! I've seen you guys around town” Ok perrrff queen! We shared the power message with her and boy howdy this was a god sent interaction. As we were talking she started crying saying how much she needed god and was so grateful we stopped by when we did. We then were talking about the Book of Mormon. I had her read Moroni 10:4-5, and as she finished reading, she stopped and asked if she could keep the book. YES TAKE IT, KEEP IT, CHERISH IT. Anywho, she was so amazing and said she'd come to church! She's YSA age tho, sooo the YSA sisters get to keep her. Bro lame sauce! All our people we find aren't even for the family ward😔…its ok i’m just grateful the lord helped us find her.
☆ Sister Nielsen was poisoned💀☣️
This weekend we stayed inside for most of Friday and all of Saturday because we were ill, this was a blessing and a curse. Curse because I physically CANNOT sit around all day and a blessing because I did all my laundry, deep cleaned my bathroom and kitchen and studied a few conference talks (this was all before 10:30am) after that I had no clue what to do, so I took a lil nap and read alma Chapters 35 - 61….Ya idk how I did it either. Fire chapters!!
Anywho, who knew there was so much time in a day 🤷♀️ not me.
☆ Interview with President Matswogatha!
Man, I have never felt so much of the Lord's presence in someone more than President Matswogatha. If it feels like this to talk to a General Authority, I can only imagine how glorious it will be to talk with my Savior. He taught us a little before our interviews, it was just amazing. He had read 1 Nephi 3:1 which talks about Nephi telling lehi he had spoken with God. President heavily emphasized the importance of speaking WITH god. We are to not only speak TO him, but speak WITH our Heavenly Father. It is a communication between us and our father. He answers us in many ways, but as we read the scriptures, that is our opportunity to literally OPEN THE MOUTH OF GOD. After we speak with God, he responds as we actively open his mouth and hear his voice. HOW COOL. Wow. Then he just asked about me, my family, and what kind of missionary I am, yadah yadah….
Mom and Dad, President ordered me to let you guys know this: “tell your parents they did a glorious job raising you. They should be proud to call you their daughter.” 😭🥹
Well shoot, that made me cry. I love my mom and dad, I learned everything from you, thank you!! I already feel so beyond blessed to have the Matswogathas in our mission. God really knows what he’s doin.
☆I didnt run over any squirrels or cats!! 🥳🥳

😁RIGHTEOUS MOMENT😁
I am shooketh by the faith and diligence of the 2000 Stripling warriors.
Alma 56: 46-48
“46 Father, behold our God is with us, and he will not suffer that we should fall; then let us go forth; we would not slay our brethren if they would let us alone; therefore let us go, lest they should overpower the army of Antipus.
47 Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.
48 And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.”
The 2000 stripling warriors faithfully took up arms to fight for their liberties, their families, and their god, Doubting not. In doing so, they were preserved, not one soul of the 2000 were lost among those young men.
Alma 57:27 tells us how this was possible:
“Now this was the faith of these of whom I have spoken; they are young, and their minds are firm, and they do put their trust in God continually.”
How amazing it is that their mothers raised them up to trust god continually, even to the point that they go into battle voluntarily to protect their rights. These boys never even had picked up a sword before, BUT they were taught truth, and had unwavering faith that the Lord would never leave them.
I love this story so much. I needed to hear this example of unwavering faith. As a missionary, you can feel like those 2000, going into something you've never done before, facing the armies of the wicked (the rude people who slam doors in your face, the bashers), facing our lamanites. There is one thing for sure that will forever keep us going in the work,
We do not doubt, for God will deliver us.
God never leaves us standing unarmed.
He is our protection.
Let our minds be firm, not letting our fears diminish the power of almighty heavenly father.
Never lose faith, NEVER DOUBT.
For God is with us.
I love and miss you all, have the bestest week ever and update me on your lifes!!
So sorry this is Uber long 😬
REMEMBER JESUS LOVES YOU!!!
love ya girl, Sister Coon 🩷
